sundowning

at the end of the day, persons with dementia will experience more visions, and hear things and become disoriented and or agitated. Yesterday we discussed these sort of events with the Dr. and he prescribed something to calm anxiety for just those moments. I don't like drugs, but the ones that work are worth the effort to find and use properly.

La Jolla cove

sea life: what is not to love?
eat until you are full, lay in the sun, mate,
do not care how much blubber you are carrying
because you are weightless.
Then when some one comes by, give them this look that says," I am doing just fine, thank you! "

nothing matters

today nothing matters more than my mom being comfortable
feeling loved, having enough food, water, COFFEE, ibuprofen and rest.
I cant fix all that went on in her past, and I have no say about the future
though I trust my God to take great care of her.
Nothing will keep me from this: expressing love and that she is safe here.
Reminding her that this moment of pain is but a blink of the eye
and that great is her reward in the presence of the Almighty
for the years of sacrifice and humility, generosity and kindness that she showed to so many.

i am reading a great book

I highly recommend Mary Pipher, and her book " A Country of Their Own"
it is on aging and understanding the changes that our elders go through in the latter stages of their lives.
buy it here, read it and 'do not weep'
